Sales and Marketing Internship

Currently, Schlessman Seed Company is the largest production seed company based in Ohio. We have produced and marketed field corn, popcorn, sweet corn, soybeans, wheat, and oats for over a century.

We are experiencing a large volume increase in sales of our corn and soybeans. Knowledge, technology, research, quality, and service are the qualities that ensure the sustainable growth of Schlessman Seed Company.

We sell seed through a distribution network in Ohio, Pennsylvania and throughout the Northeast. We strive to provide our customers with the necessary marketing tools and information to promote and increase sales of our products.

We are located at Interstate 80/90 (exit 118) on US Highway 250 North, in Milan Ohio.

Position Description

1. Purpose and Scope
   • The sales and marketing intern is responsible for assisting with sales and marketing activities that are consistent with Schlessman Seed Company's goals and objectives.
2. Responsibilities
   • The sales and marketing intern will assist the Sales Manager with various selling and marketing activities.

     This includes:

     • Assisting with sales calls.
     • Evaluating market development.
     • Product signage.
     • Monitoring product performance throughout the year.
     • Assisting with planting performance trials.
     • Helping coordinate summer field day.
     • Working with seed farms.
     • Performing activities related to seed production.
3. Organizational Relationships
   
   • The sales and marketing intern will report directly to the Sales Manager of Schlessman Seed Company.

Position Requirements

1. Education and Training
• The sales and marketing intern must be attending a college or university.
• The ideal candidate will have a background in sales and marketing but it is not required.
• The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• A positive attitude, creativity, and a willingness to learn are also required for this position.
2. Term
• April through September.
3. Salary
• Hourly rate negotiable depending on experience.
• Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement provided.
